Airboatin’ Yeehaw
June 16, 2009Went out to Boggy Creek Airboat Rides (http://www.bcairboats.com/), on the southwest side of Lake Toho in Osceola County, on Sunday. While Cap’n Jeff was a great good ole boy guide, and the staff was friendly, and the lake was scenic, it’s just too damn hot to go airboating at 2 pm on a June afternoon in Central Florida. What was I thinking? We did see quite a few birds, and a couple of bass jumping, and one gator (maybe) that was about a foot and a half long, but the wildlife was clearly laying low in the 93 degree heat.
I hadn’t been airboating in about 12 years, and the last time I went was in the Everglades, so this was a little different. This one was less about the gators, and mroe about the birds and being out on the lake. It was nice, but it wasn’t quite as, I dunno, thrilling as I wanted it to be. I’d do it again, with people from out of town, but I’d wait til November or February!
